## Welcome to World IA Day Palermo

World IA Day has been celebrated in Palermo since 2020, bringing together information architects, UX designers, content strategists, and digital professionals to explore the latest trends and practices in information architecture.

### 📅 World IA Day 2026 - March 7, 2026

This year, we want to give new energy to the initiative by integrating it with the UX/UI master's program we teach, creating a bridge between academic education and professional practice. World IA Day represents the ideal opportunity for us to open the doors of the master's program to the city, share knowledge, and create a meaningful meeting point among students, professionals, and local businesses.

Il #Wiad, World Information Architecture day, è la giornata internazionale dedicata all’architettura dell’informazione. In tutto il mondo la comunità globale di architettɜ dell’informazione si riunisce, per “celebrare e promuovere la crescita globale dell'architettura dell'informazione a partire dalle realtà locali, attraverso il confronto tra colleghi e la contaminazione di discipline diverse”.

💥Dal 2012 il Wiad anima le comunità di pratica sparse per il mondo, promuovendo talk e organizzando workshop e laboratori.

Il tema 2026 è "Designing for meaning - Purpose, Experience, and Everything in Between”

<br>

Progettiamo il significato di ciò che creiamo, trasformando dati e contenuti in conoscenza che orienta. Partiamo da un purpose chiaro e arriviamo all’esperienza reale delle persone, passando per l’organizzazione, i nomi e le connessioni che rendono la complessità comprensibile. La vera domanda è sempre la stessa: come costruire architetture dell’informazione capaci di generare esperienze davvero significative e umane?\

Il **World IA Day 2025** è un evento globale incentrato sul tema dell'**Architettura dell'Informazione (AI)**. # Benedetto Inzerillo

*Benedetto Inzerillo, architect and assistant professor in Industrial Design* *at the Department of Architecture of the University of Palermo. Between 1997 and 1998 he collaborated at the Department of industrial design for the boating of Prof. Arch. Andrea Vallicelli, at the Faculty of Architecture of Pescara. In 1998 he ranks first in the International Competition "A sail for Europe" with the design of a ten-meter sailing boat. From 1998 to 2003 he was a lecturer in Industrial Design for boating at the School of Specialization in Industrial Design at the Faculty of Architecture of Palermo. Since 2005 teaches Methods and systems of production in Sicily, Design for Nautical, Industrial Design Laboratory,* *Industrial Design Laboratory II, Product Design and Communication Laboratory. In 2018 he obtained the National enabling of Associate Professor.*

# Costanza Gallo

Costanza is a privacy and freedom of speech activist. She has been in tech since 2012, from e-commerce startups like Rocket Internet to Fortune 500 SaaS companies like Oracle, to grassroots volunteer projects. She started exploring crypto in 2018, and since 2020, she has focused on the Web3 fight against Internet censorship, contributing to projects like Golem Factory, the Swarm Foundation, and Devcon’s Hacktivism Hub. She has appeared in the Financial Times and has been a guest lecturer for John Cabot University, and has shared her expertise at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions. She holds a MSc in Law, Anthropology and Society from the London School of Economics.

In seguito alla laurea presso UNIPA lavora per 2 anni nel team di R\&S per WASP (Ravenna), azienda produttrice di stampanti 3D. Torna in Sicilia nel 2018 e si avvicina al mondo dell'economia circolare per il recupero degli scarti aziendali attraverso la collaborazione con l'azienda Divel Italia. Oggi è co-fondatrice del progetto Risacca, un progetto di economia circolare per il riuso e il riciclo delle reti da pesca e della plastica recuperata in mare per la salvaguardia degli ecosistemi marini.

# Florian Myter

I obtained a PhD in computer science (on the topic of distributed systems, broadly speaking) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the University of Ghent in 2019. Since my PhD i've dedicated myself, together with a colleague, to a quest in search for true end-user programming.

# Giulia Piazza

**Giulia Piazza** graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Porto (FAUP) with a design thesis exploring the reuse of the historical city. She has collaborated with architectural firms in Portugal and Italy, working on large-scale public and private projects.

In 2023, she completed a second-level master’s degree in *Gender-Sensitive Cities* at the University of Florence, where she deepened her expertise in urban planning and policies related to intersectional inclusion and participatory processes, with a focus on public spaces and eco-feminist issues.

She co-founded the architectural practice **piazzarchitettura**, which has gained recognition in international competitions and secured prestigious public commissions. Her work reflects a strong interest in ecological construction, emphasising the use of natural materials and the syntropic connection between built environments and landscapes.

# Hanna Rasper

Hanna is a designer turned rewilder. In 2023, she co-founded the non-profit Collettivo Rewild Sicily, which set out the goal to bring rewilding actions on the ground in Sicily. She also works with Planet Wild as a project scout and is on the lookout for exciting nature restoration projects around the world, leveraging the power of storytelling.

Hanna combines her background in design fiction, strategic design and infographics with her passion for the great outdoors, new narratives for our own species, and Sir David Attenborough.\
She is a proud holder of a BA in Media Design and an MA in Design for Social Impact from Paris College of Art.

# Luigi Farrauto

Luigi Farrauto is a map and wayfinding designer - and a writer. Co-founder of 100km studio, with Andrea Novali, he completed in 2012 a PhD in Design at Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis on cartography (Density Design Research Lab). He lived in Amsterdam, Abu Dhabi, Boston and Doha, mainly focusing on the design of maps and navigation systems. Since 2013 he is also a Lonely Planet Italy author, writing travel guides and reportages.

Marzia Aricò is a design leader, independent consultant, coach, author, and speaker. She has dedicated her career to helping organizations achieve meaningful transformations through design. Over the years, she has collaborated with numerous major companies across more than twenty industries, including Adidas, JPMorgan Chase, Xero, and Gucci.

With a PhD in Organisational Studies from Copenhagen Business School, Marzia is a passionate advocate for the integration of design and business, fostering a virtuous synergy between industry and academia.

Roberta Pellegrino is an entrepreneur and co-founder of Ludwig, a tech platform that has reached 200 million users worldwide since its launch in 2015. She holds a PhD in Economics, Management, and Quantitative Analysis, along with degrees in Philosophy and Cognitive Science. Her passions encompass data analysis, digital humanities, and epistemology. Roberta has taught Entrepreneurship and the Economy of Innovation and was a visiting scholar at the Wharton School of Economics from 2015 to 2017, where she focused on topics like technology transfer and strategy. Ludwig's journey has been featured by international media, including TechCrunch US. Roberta is deeply interested in the opportunities presented by generative AI and is mindful of its impacts on future work, knowledge access, and its associated risks. She was part of the 2024 cohort of women awarded by EIC with the leadership program and was a Women Tech EU fellow in 2023.

Rosalia is a service designer at the Department for Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. She studied Interior Design and Product & Service System Design at the Politecnico di Milano and, thanks to her collaboration with Mare Culturale Urbano, developed a thesis exploring the intersection of urban regeneration, community service enhancement, and social impact. During her professional journey, working in Intesa Sanpaolo’s Innovation Department and earning a Master’s in Strategic Marketing from 24 Ore Business School, she gained a deeper understanding of the challenges of service digitalization and its impact on people’s lives. Today, within the public sector, she focuses on Italian and European digital identity projects, seeing digital identity as a key enabler for accessing public services and exercising one’s rights. Her goal is to contribute to the design of functional and meaningful solutions built on virtuous, long-lasting, and sustainable models that create value for the entire ecosystem.

Her most specific area of interest and expertise is the development of emerging technologies and complex systems that they enable in connection to the services and spaces, societies and ecosystems. She is passionate about advancing design methods through continuous experimentation and learning from other disciplines, going beyond human-centred design and moving towards planetary thinking. She's been leading oblo's explorations in systems thinking since 2018 and AI-related projects starting from 2019, eventually synthesizing all the learnings into a step-by-step method that can help other designers approach the complexity of this new technology through ["enhanced" design tools](https://servicedesigntools.org/enhanced-tools). Besides practical day-to-day work, she teaches courses on Systemic Design and AI in various schools and courses in Italy.&#x20;
